08-09-2008 Eastern Black Swallowtail Caterpillars!

A few weeks ago, I noticed some little black and white hairy caterpillars on our parsley in our patio herb garden. They looked a lot like bird droppings...then a little while ago I noticed that they had turned into these striped beauties. I looked them up and found out they were Eastern Black Swallowtail Caterpillars! I was making sauce one night and I sent the girls out to get some basil and some parsley, and they found the caterpillars. They were so excited...the caterpillars had gotten so big, they looked like they were just about ready to pupate. So we brought them inside with plenty of parsley and set them up in our Butterfly Gazebo. These are the pictures from that day.
